How to Mix Coolant

In a CNC machine shop, maintaining the correct coolant concentration is critical for tool life and part finish. A standard emulsion is a mix of water and soluble oil.

The Golden Rule: O.I.L. (Oil Into Liquid)

Always add Water first, then pour the Concentrate (Oil) into the water. This ensures proper emulsification. Doing the reverse will create a sticky, inverted emulsion that ruins the batch.

Step-by-step Instructions:

  • Press and hold the Blue Jug to fill the tank with water.
  • Press and hold the Orange Jug to add concentrate.
  • Watch the Coolant Level sensor. It must reach "OK" for the machine to run.
  • Press Take Brix Reading to look through the refractometer lens. Your goal is a reading between 7.0 and 9.0 Brix (the green zone).
